blind Detroit man will "Get the next one"
Detroit MI
Jim Leyland, a visually impaired Detroit senior-citizen, declared that the next one was "headed over that fence." Unfortunately for Leyland, "that fence" he was pointing to with his bat was the backstop.
"Been blind since Korea, and that's never stopped me from jogging the bases with my hands up." Leyland said as a fourth consecutive pitch buzzed by him without a reaction.
"I hear the ball better than anyone in this league, and my batting average compares with any cleanup hitter on the Tigers."
Leyland took the fifth pitch and third strike looking, and began walking out to the mound shouting "Somebody help me down these stairs to the dugout, I need a goddamn RC Cola."
