It's Monday. The new fantasy week starts now, and if you're looking for a few spot starts for goaltenders this week, you've come to the right place. Here's the list of goaltenders that are due for a solid week, and the list of those who will struggle.
Due
1. Ray Emery Vs. Buffalo
In the last few weeks, Flyers coach Craig Berube has been shuffling his goaltenders, giving Steve Mason about two of every three starts each week. This week, the Flyers have St. Louis on Tuesday, Buffalo on Thursday, and the Islanders on Saturday. Assuming Mason gets the nod on Tuesday, Ray Emery could very well be lined up to play the Thursday night tilt. With Buffalo only averaging 1.73 goals per game this season (the lowest of any team) there's a real chance Emery could post very good numbers. Whether or not Philly gets the win. . . now that's another story.
Emery is available in 79.5% of ESPN leagues.
2. Ondrej Pavelec
Is this really happening? Is Ondrej Pavelec a typo!? Nope. Pavelec is one of those names that have the same ring as Toskala or Byrzgalov. He's generally one of those guys that you can never roll with any sort of confidence. But that all changes this week. This coming Saturday night (Nov 23), the Jets will be playing at home against the Minnesota Wild. The Wild have been struggling on the road this season, only posting 16 goals in 8 contests. An average of just two goals per game. Compare that to Winnepeg's 35 goals in 13 games (2.69 per game), and pair that with Pavelec's .928 save percentage in November, and you have a winning combination.
Pavelec is available in 22.6% of ESPN leagues.
3. Ben Scrivens
No surprises here, after two consecutive shutouts, Big Ben is an easy recommendation. The two shutouts aren't the biggest thing working in Scrivens' favor this week, it's his Tuesday night matchup. The Kings take on Tampa Bay on Tuesday. Tampa averages just two goals per game on the road so far this season, and now they're playing without Steven Stamkos. The Kings are 7-3 at home, and have outscored their opponents 34-24 in ten games at home this season.
Scrivens is available in 32.7% of ESPN leagues.

DIE
1. Schneider/Brodeur
While it's too early to tell yet which of the Devil's goaltender tandem will be in net on Wednesday, just know, they should be on your bench. The Ducks have outscored their opponents by 22 at home this season, and give up an average of 1.625 goals per game at home. Compare that to their 4.375 goals per game at home, and you've got yourself an ugly matchup for anyone in the visitor's crease at the Honda Center.
2. Semyon Varlamov
Call me bold, but this week is not looking good for Varly. Although he has been nothing short of fantastic this season (.927 save percentage, 2.28 GAA), Varlamov has a few very tough matchups this week. The Avalanche open up the week at home against the Blackhawks, then play the Coyotes in Phoenix, and the Kings in LA. The Hawks have been a bit up and down this season, but they're still the reigning Stanley Cup Champions. The Coyotes are very sharp at home (9-0-1) and the Kings aren't too shabby either (7-3-0).
3. Justin Peters
With Cam Ward still out, some of you may have been looking to Justin Peters for some starts. Peters lines up against Boston twice, with Detroit in the middle. The Bruins offense hasn't been off the charts this season, but they have still outscored opponents by 17 goals. Detroit is on a huge six game skid right now, but will be looking to bounce back against Peters and the Canes. Peters has been very good in the recent five game home stand, but with a tough schedule in the next seven days, it's in your best interest to keep him out of your rotation.
